One Night in Passing
Nancy Blake

Pulling at the neon light
Dusty road on a quiet night
Checked in just to catch some sleep
Did no faded plans
So deep
You walked by with your suitcase slow
Smile like the radio
Said just passing through tonight
We sat down by the soda
Lights
One night in passing
But it felt like more
Left till the morning
By the old front door
Two hearts drifting
But the stars alive for one
Night
You were mine
Talked of dreams in the roads ahead
Told me every book you read. You said
Maybe in another life then wave goodbye
At morning
Life
One night in passing
But it felt like war
Left till the morning
By the old front door
Two hearts drifting
But the stars align for one
Night
You
Were mine
We drove away
On separate days
But something in us still remains
Hey
